Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock
Kimbo’s next fight is set for primetime THIS SATURDAY night, October 4th, in the EliteXC: Heat show on CBS, and it will in fact be Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock. The fight will take place in Sunnyvale Florida and will mark Kimbo Slice’s fifth professional MMA fight, after Ray Mercer, Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott, and James Thompson.
Immediately after the fight between Kimbo and James Thompson, Shamrock declared that he saw holes in Kimbo’s game, saying he’d be a perfect opponent for him. Needless to say, Brett Rogers is pretty pissed.
After Kimbo vs Shamrock was announced, Brett “The Grimm” Rogers started calling out everyone from Kimbo to Dan Severn. He questions Kimbo’s credibility, calling him and his skills a myth, and claiming Kimbo’s a fraud about coming from any mean streets.
This is devolving into another “who’s harder and from a meaner ghetto” argument but Rogers doesn’t want to shut the hell up. He thought if he called Kimbo out right after fighting Thompson, he’d get the first shot just because it would have everybody talking. Apparently EliteXC doesn’t care, and it’s even rumored that they don’t want Kimbo to fight Rogers for fear that Kimbo might actually lose.
The odds don’t indicate a loss in this next Kimbo vs Shamrock fight. Ken “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” Shamrock is the 44-year-old UFC Hall of Famer with five consecutive losses. His last win was four years ago in 2004 against Kimo Leopoldo. While he has real skills, particularly in submissions, he just gets knocked out way too easily these days. But let’s hope Kimbo vs. Shamrock turns out to be an explosive fight on a good card.
And here’s Frank Shamrock, Ken Shamrock’s adopted brother, talking about how Ken should destroy Kimbo Slice in this fight:
While Ken Shamrock is nothing to brag about on paper these days, Kimbo showed us in his last fight that he himself has a lot of work to do especially in his ground game and grappling is his weakness. Shamrock is undoubtedly a master of grappling submissions and if you have been following Ken for any length of time you know that he’s famous for his leg locks. An interesting piece of trivia this time around Kimbo slices trainer, Bas Rutten, was actually submitted by Ken Shamrock twice. So if anybody knows what to train Kimbo to watch out for in this fight, it’s Bas.
What does Kimbo have to gain from this fight? Plenty. Many people know the name of Shamrock especially after the debacle against Tito Ortiz. For the people who don’t follow the sport of MMA closely, many will still see Shamrock as a formidable opponent, not realizing his better days are far behind him. But to be fair he is still a challenge and a super tough guy. Statistically the odds don’t look good for him against Kimbo Slice, but as you know by now anything can happen in MMA.
And if Shamrock wins? Unfortunately they’re probably is not much in store for shamrock if he does defeat Kimbo Slice. At 45 years old he really can’t make much of a comeback in the sport or as an athlete. But this could certainly help his career as a coach, trainer, and MMA personality like his brother Frank Shamrock. It’s a shame to see Ken’s legacy tarnished fight after fight, especially since he’s said that he just loves to fight for the thrill of it, so you can’t hold anything against him for fighting just because he is too old to be a contender for championship belts.

It looks like Elite XC will stay alive for one more fight. What are they going to do when all the Sr. UFC fighters are gone? I can’t believe this fight is actually happening. Doesnt Kimbo want to get any repect? FYI guys…This fight is so stupid, it might not even happen. Some fighting commision in FL (where the fight will be)has only given Kimbo the dumbs to fight. They’re contemplating on giving shamrock the ok because of his old-ass being 10 years away from a dennys senior discount. Come on guys, you guys have to agree that this fight isnt giving Kimbo any kind of credit. If anything it makes him look like some unexperience fighter. If Kimbo wants respect of true MMA fighters and fans, he needs to prove himself with some kind of equivelant fighter. And one more thing… I’m tired of stupid mother fu@kers who dont know shit about MMA saying give Kimbo time. Do you know how old his ass is? 35. How much fu@ken time do think he’s still got? Kimbo is doing the right thing. MMA fighters are on another level and he will likely lose to most of them. He’s living off uTube hype and 1 loss will hurt be costly so he should keep beating washed up fighters until he is totally washed up himself.
People would pay millions to see Kimbo vs Tyson because that is the equivalent of the ultimate fighting circus.

That saying holds true. Kimbo didn’t look to good in his last match, but a win is a win. Bas is training Kimbo, which will give him an edge against Ken, and if he beats ken he will go on and fight Rodgers, hopefuly and then mabye Tito, i’d like to see that fight…

The fight can go either way imo. No doubt Kimbos got heavy hands, and if Ken gets caught its lights out. But I give the edge to washed up Ken. If Ken is smart he’ll listen to what the coach says and take kimbo to the floor. After that we all know what happens…

OK for the record. Anyone who knows anything about MMA would not even be talking about this shamrock/kimbo fight. As for the question as to Lesnar/Kimbo….Lesnar is just as much a circus act as Kimbo. You know what happens when you are a street brawler fighting pros? Look at Chuck’s last fight. No training just drinking it up in Vegas with the hoes. The only way to win in the octagon is to be the best and train all day, everyday (Fedor style); and all three of these idiots only exist because their agents made a freak show out of them and then they got a cover shot on M&F (which, by the way, Lesnar looked flabby as hell). So if you want to talk bad fighters, talk Anderson Silva, or Fedor, your just talking about the minor leagues.

Shamrock did spar just before the fight, that says all about how washed up he is now.
Great that the hype is finally exposed, a real opponent (mediocre light heavyweight) did show it all. No more washed up guys who just show up for a little pension money. A trained opponent is a little harder than beating up street guys with no MA training at all.
