Kimbo vs Brett Rogers Next?
June 1st, 2008
After an electrifying, bloody bout with James Thompson, Kimbo was called out by Brett Rogers — who won by first-round KO earlier in the night at the post-fight press conference. Rogers said Kimbo’s fight was garbage and that he saw Kimbo tap out.
A few people at the conference applauded, a few jaws dropped, and then Kimbo stood up and confronted Rogers, and the room almost exploded in a brawl right there. Here’s the video…

rogers is telling it like it is. he said he saw kimbo tap out when thompson had him in the guillotine, 1st round i think it was. either way everybody knows they did what they had to do to save kimbo so he wouldnt lose. after he got elbowed in the head for a straight minute and a half, they had to pull something out of their asses.

I agree with clowny, y would they switch the camera to a far out view when kimbo was nearly out…. maybe because he did tap out like rogers said. Either way, the whole elbow to the head for a a min and a half was bullshit, if it was kimbo on top they woulda called it in 14 secs or sooner.

It was a clean fight, kimbo used his thumb to signal that he was alright..and when he was getting pounded in the head for a str8 min, the round ended, nothing was pulled out of their asses. Hes been a bare knuckle street fighter for a while, he is a LION. you fucking idiot. But he does not have all the skills that the other fighters have. his violence crushes the skills of others! Wow. All the dudes in Kimbo’s corner look like they just got out of prison. Was Kimbo wearing his canteen shorts and shower shoes? I’m tired of hearing his mouth. Why won’t he fight any of the Samoan MMA fighters? It would be a great way to bring more media attention to polynesian Mixed Martial artists. Bottom line, Kimbo has not proved himself yet because he hasn’t fought any worthwhile fighters. When he starts beating skilled/experienced fighters, then we can talk.

Kimbo is still a rookie, and is still learning. He hits hard and his ground game is getting better. He will will fucking kill Rodgers. You haters need to man up and just give him his respect. There is truth in nearly all these comments….no matter how much anyone likes kimbo it was bull they didnt stop it after he didnt logically defend himself for a min and a half. They had to keep the fight going or who knows what would have happened to their hard earned fans. Anyways if kimbo doesnt learn how to knee or attack an oppenent lunging for a take down he WILL be OBLITERATED by someone beyond rogers exp.

Yes, Kimbo Slice is an accomplished street fighter. You need to give him credit for that. He did lose to Gannon. After 30 seconds, he wasn’t up, so he lost. You can bitch about the rules, but you cannot dispute video evidence. He lost.
Now in his fight with Thompson, it isclear that he is giving a thumbs up, whatever you may say. Now whether or not the unanswered elbows should have warranted a TKO is up to the ref. He called it as he saw it, and that is that. Obviously Kimbo still had enough in him after receiving those blows and the chokes to stand up and bang with Thompson. The fight was stopped and Kimbo was awarded the W. That is how it all played out. Although has won a few fights in MMA, Kimbo’s credibility as an elite mixed martial artist has yet to be proven. Now you can all debate whether or not you think it was a fair, unbiased fight, but give Kimbo credit for what he has done. And don’t talk shit about his skills on some webpage unless you can back it up, because I can guarantee you that he would put you in the fucking ground in real life. Stop hating, enjoy the fights and look forward to his upcoming bouts.

Hey guys! just wanted to say that Kimbo is a tough bastard and yuou have to give him credit for going against people who try to take you to the floor,,,look at what happened when Butter Bean went UFC and he got took to the floor… All i can say is, ButterBean Vs. Kimbo,,no way would kimbo want to take him down to the floor,,it would be punch vs. punch and kimbo would get knocked out. Butterbean was in his prime at 300,,now hes bigger but still all it would take is 1 punch. So quit talking shit about seeing him take on other ufc people,i think everyone wants to meet someone who can exchange blow to blow with him

Ok two points need to be made. First point is this. Did anyone watch the entire card of fights that evening? Did anyone happen to notice how horrible the referee that had Kimbo’s fight was in earlier fights as well? He made several mistakes. In his (the referre’s) defense the elbows that Kimbo was taking weren’t doing very much damage because Thompson was just as exhausted as Kimbo. A case could be made for either end on that one.
TWO: Some simple information for anyone in this forum. MMA fighters very often build up a record and a lot of experience before any fans have ever heard of them. In other words, before you ever heard of Jeremy Horn, he was building up his record and experience, just as the best example. Kimbo was put into a situation less favorable to instant success because of his previously attained fame. Is he the best in the world right now? Of course not. Could he be once he has 20 or so fights under his belt? Absolutely. If he is going to get there he will have to go through an evolution of understanding the entire fight.

Let me get right to it. Kimbo didn’t land in MMA by accident. His history speaks for itself. Brent Rogers is nice too in the fight game. Kimbo and Brent would be a good one. The JT fight was perfect for Kimbo. JT gave him a lesson on the ground game and thats what kimbo needed so he can see where his ground game is at. Kimbo lost the Gannon fight, but if you saw Gannon’s face you wouldn’t believe it. For all those who are talking reckless have no clue about the fight game(and most likely can’t fight themselves). Kimbo was KO’ing people long before Elite XC. Oh, just to add to logical’s points, when JT had Kimbo on the ground and striking him, no blood, no cuts, NO DAMAGE!!!! Fights that i’ve seen, dudes are either bloody or KO’d in that position.
